The AUCAT series of catalysts was developed to address the limitations of conventional organometallic catalysts, which tend to lose their activity over time—and cannot be stored stably for long periods—when exposed to trace amounts of water, acids, or bases. AUCAT-101 offers the following features:
1) Environmentally friendly: It is free from hazardous heavy metals such as mercury, tin, and lead, ensuring compliance with stringent domestic and international environmental regulations. While organotin compounds have long been the dominant catalysts in the polyurethane industry, their toxicity and environmental impact have drawn significant concern. In recent years, various environmental regulations—both domestic and abroad—have imposed such strict limitations on organotin that they are effectively being phased out. As they no longer align with market trends and requirements, many companies have already begun the process of replacing them.
2) Hydrolytic stability: It can be pre-mixed into formulations containing water without losing its catalytic activity, even during long-term storage. This overcomes the technical challenge—common with standard organobismuth or organotin catalysts—of deactivation due to hydrolysis in aqueous formulations, thereby simplifying both the formulation process and production operations.
